Steven Kinney PT, DPT is a physical therapist currently working at Indiana University Health in Bloomington, IN. Steven has practiced in outpatient, subacute rehab, inpatient rehab, and acute care hospital settings with diverse patient populations. These include experiences volunteering as a physical therapist locally and abroad. He is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy and is currently pursuing a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy at Regis University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and achieved certification as an Integrated Manual Therapist (CIMT) with Great Lakes Seminars. In addition, he completed extensive training in Neuro-Developmental Treatment, becoming certified under Recovering Function. He is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Steven incorporates prevention, health promotion, and wellness principles into these varied practice settings to improve patient outcomes. His experiences as a martial artist and collegiate runner have helped in the clinical implementation of these concepts. He also enjoys helping individuals with persistent pain through a biopsychosocial approach.
Outside of clinical practice, Steven has recently worked with the APTA Indiana on a pain task force to improve services for patients with persistent pain. This includes working on the development of a pain special interest group for APTA Indiana. He assists in the teaching of cardiopulmonary labs for Indiana State’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He provides educational offerings for clinicians that incorporate his diverse clinical experiences within an evidence-based framework at the state and national level.
